Having a huge sweet tooth is never a problem with an air fryer. While you can cook healthy foods, such as grilled chicken breasts and carrots, you can also indulge in some incredibly sweet desserts like these air fryer jelly donuts.
They’re homemade jelly donuts using biscuits, but you would never know with how soft and fluffy they get. It’s the perfect air fryer jam doughnut that’s easy to make…
And by easy, I mean it can be done in less than 10 minutes with just 4 ingredients.
You can even turn these into sufganiyot with some simple tweaks included below.
How to Make Air Fryer Jelly Donuts
STEP ONE: Preheat your air fryer to 320 degrees.
STEP TWO: Place the canned biscuits into the air fryer in one single layer, not touching and cook for 5-6 minutes. I use the Homestyle Pillsbury Grands, not the flaky layers ones. You can see why below.
STEP THREE: Remove the biscuits from the air fryer and place it to the side.
STEP FOUR: Put some sugar into a bowl with a wide flat bottom. This will allow you to roll the jam doughnuts in the sugar evenly.
Baste all sides of a donut with melted butter and immediately dip into the sugar coating the entire donut.
Repeat with all donuts until they are all coated in sugar.
STEP FIVE: Pour the raspberry jam into a piping bag with a long cake frosting tip (I recommend the #230 tip).
Pipe 1 to 2 tablespoons of jelly into each doughnut and place it on a wire rack when complete.
Enjoy immediately or keep up to 3 days.
Note: These air fryer jelly donuts are best eaten when warm. If making more than you eat right away, cook the biscuits in the air fryer as stated, then store until needed.
When ready to eat, reheat the biscuits in an air fryer at 320 for 2 minutes, then baste with butter, roll in the sugar, and pipe jelly inside.
Can I Use Flaky Layer Biscuits in This Recipe?
No. I love flaky layer biscuits, but this is not a recipe to use them in.
Using flaky layers will still taste great, but once you go to pipe the jam into the donut, the layers will start to split, and the donut will split in half.
What Kind of Jelly is Used in Jelly Donuts?
Jelly donuts are traditionally filled with seedless raspberry jelly. It’s the perfect fruit filling for a sweet and indulgent donut.
You can buy it right at the store or make your own (just be sure to strain all the raspberry seeds!).
Feel free to mix it up and use your favorite seedless jam, like strawberry for a different flavor! You could even pipe them with vanilla pudding for a unique Boston Cream variety.
Do I Really Need a Piping Bag and Long Cake Tip to Make These?
No. I am all about finding ways to be frugal, so here’s another way to make these.
Piping Bag Substitute
Zipper sandwich bags make the perfect substitute for a piping bag. Just grab a small sandwich bag and cut a tiny hole with scissors in the corner of the bag. Feed the cake tip through inside and pour the jelly in.
I love using sandwich bags for piping as they’re much cheaper and we always have them around the house.
They also zip closed at the top, so if you’re not a master cake piper, it will help keep the jelly inside the bag.
If you make a recipe that uses more frosting or double this recipe and need more jelly, just use a quart or gallon-sized bag.
NOTE: You cannot use freezer style bags for this as they typically have a flat bottom and no clear corner to cut.
Long Cake Tip Substitute
While you do need a cake tip to complete this recipe, you don’t need a special long one (although I highly recommend cake tip #230 since it’s so cheap).
You can use any cake tip you have at home. If you do have a shorter cake tip, you can pipe half the jelly into one side, flip the donut to the other side and then pipe the other half of the jelly inside.
This can cause more of a mess when eating but will work in a crunch if you’re looking at this recipe at home and have canned biscuits in the fridge.
How to Turn These into an Air Fryer Sufganiyot
A Sufganiyot (Sufganiyah) is a delicious round jelly doughnut topped with powdered sugar. It’s an Israeli delicacy eaten during Hanukkah.
These donuts are easily be turned into a Sufganiyot by omitting the regular sugar in the recipe, cutting the butter down by half, and adding powdered sugar.
Once the biscuits are air fried, pipe the jelly into each Sufganiyot then baste just the top lightly with melted butter and sprinkle with powdered sugar to finish them off.

Air Fryer Jelly Donuts
Ingredients
- 1 package Pillsbury Grands Homestyle
- 1/2 cup seedless raspberry jelly
- 1 tablespoon butter melted
- 1/2 cup sugar
Instructions
- Preheat air fryer to 320 degrees.
- Place Grand Rolls inside the air fryer in a single layer and cook for 5-6 minutes until golden brown.
- Remove rolls from the air fryer and set aside.
- Place sugar into a wide bowl with a flat bottom.
- Baste butter on all sides of the donut and roll in the sugar to cover completely. Complete with all remaining donuts.
- Using a long cake tip, pipe 1-2 tablespoons of raspberry jelly into each donut.
- Enjoy immediately or keep up to 3 days.*

Sososo, it’s actually a jelly filled biscuit, dipped in butter and rolled in sugar… However, it does sound good.
Yes, they are physically biscuits, but once you taste them, you will see how it completely changes the way it tastes into donuts. We also enjoy them with the middles cut out and dipped in glaze. They’re absolutely delicious!
