What Kind of Bread Should You Use For Air Fryer French Toast?

Any kind of sandwich bread will work for making air fried French toast. I usually use whatever I happen to have in my pantry.

I’ve even made french toast with banana bread!

But, if you can get your hands on Brioche bread, it makes the absolute best French toast in the world.

Tips for Making the Best French Toast in the Air Fryer

  • Let any excess eggy mixture drip off the bread slices so it doesn’t drip into the air fryer.
  • Serve hot with butter and maple syrup or honey, or sprinkle the air fried French toast slices with granulated sugar and garnish with fresh berries.
  • For stuffed French toast, just slather cream cheese and berries between two finished slices!
  • Looking for a healthy or low-carb variation? Feel free to use keto-friendly bread, your favorite sugar alternative, non-dairy milk like almond or coconut, or all of the above!
  • To freeze leftover French toast, let the slices cool, then place them on a parchment lined baking sheet in a single layer. Freeze for 1-2 hours, then transfer to a freezer-safe container or bag.
  • To reheat French toast from frozen, just stick the slices in the air fryer at 320 degrees F. Reheat for 2-4 minutes, depending on the thickness of your slices, until crispy on the outside and hot all the way through.
