These chewy orange creamsicle cookies, made from cake mix and orange jello, are ready in just 20 minutes. Enjoy the flavors of your favorite frozen treat in cookie form!
Cookies are one of my favorite baked goods to make. They’re super easy to mix up and throw in the oven, and they can be made in all sorts of fun flavors! Creamsicle cookies use citrusy orange extract and sweet white chocolate chips to make a fun treat that will remind you of those yummy popsicles!
These oranges colored cookies are soft, warm, and fruity — and they’re super easy to whip up. The dough is made with cake mix like my cake mix crinkle cookies, so forget about measuring out the perfect amounts of flour and baking powder!
Also, you can get creative with toppings like vanilla frosting or fun colored sprinkles!
I love to make these orange cookies whenever I’m getting bored of typical cookie flavors like sugar or chocolate chip. Not only are these orange creamsicle cookies a beautiful pastel orange color, but the flavor is far from common! Treat your friends and family to cookies that they haven’t tried before!
How to Make Orange Creamsicle Cookies
A full printable version of this recipe with ingredient measurements is available at the bottom of this post.
STEP ONE: Preheat your oven to 350 degrees F and line two baking sheets with parchment paper or silpat liners
STEP TWO: With a mixer, combine cake mix, orange jello powder, and orange zest in a large bowl. Add the butter and eggs and beat around 1 minute until the dough comes together. Then, fold in the white chocolate chips by hand.
STEP THREE: Scoop out the dough into 1 ½ tablespoon portions and roll into balls. Place on the lined baking sheets, pressing extra white chocolate chips into the tops if you’d like.
STEP FIVE: Bake creamsicle cookies for 8-10 minutes, until the edges start to brown and the centers are set. Cool on the pan for 1-2 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack.
Tips for the Best Orange Creamsicle Cookies
- Chill your dough. This is an easy way to prevent overspreading and get thicker, chewier orange creamsicle cookies. Simply cover the bowl and pop it in the refrigerator for about an hour before scooping out the dough.
- Use softened butter. It will be much easier to cream with the dry ingredients, which means no overmixing! Let the butter come to room temperature on the counter to guarantee orange cake mix cookies that are fluffy and soft.
- Avoid hot pans. Rotate cookie sheets so they have time to cool between each batch. If that’s not an option, check on your orange cookies a minute or two early so the bottoms don’t burn.
Variations for Orange Cookies
- Top with powdered sugar. Instead of pressing extra white chocolate chips into the dough, dust powdered sugar over the orange colored cookies once they have fully cooled.
- Make orange creamsicle ice cream sandwiches. Use two cookies for the “bread” of your ice cream sandwich, then fill the middle with a scoop of vanilla or orange creamsicle flavored ice cream.
- Add some vanilla extract. If you really like that vanilla flavor in your creamsicle cookies, try adding one teaspoon of vanilla extract to your dough to amp the flavor up.

What Is the Easiest Way to Zest an Orange?
The best tool is an orange or lemon zester, but if you don’t have access to one, you have other options! Try using the smallest holes on a cheese or vegetable grater.
You can also use a vegetable peeler for longer strips of orange, then use a paring knife to chop your strips into tiny pieces.
How Do I Fix Sticky Cookie Dough?
Overly sticky dough can be difficult to deal with, as it makes it harder to roll your dough into balls. The source of this problem is usually the temperature of the dough — stick the bowl in the refrigerator for a few minutes, then try to roll the balls again.
If your dough is still overly sticky, try adding flour or cornstarch one tablespoon at a time to help with the consistency.
Storing Leftover Creamsicle Cookies
These orange creamsicle cookies can be stored in an airtight container for 5-6 days on the counter.
You can also freeze them for up to 3 months. Store in a freezer-safe ziploc bag and thaw on the counter before eating.

How would I cook these cookies in an air fryer or is it possible?
Great question! I would recommend maintaining the temperature at 350 degrees and ensure your air fryer is preheated before placing the cookies inside. Modify the cooking time to around 5-6 minutes for the air fryer version. Hope you enjoy the recipe and happy baking!
That was sickeningly sweet. Definitely did not need 11oz of white chocolate chips when there is a pack of jello in there. Would not make this again.
I’m sorry to hear that this recipe didn’t meet your expectations, we all have different taste preferences so this recipe may be too sweet for some but it is one that I really enjoy personally. I hate to hear it was not the case for you but thank you for giving it a try.
