Tips for Making the Best Crispy Breaded Air Fryer Chicken Wings
- Make sure there’s a little space between each wing in the air fryer so the hot air can properly circulate. This ensures that the breading will get fully crispy on all sides!
- Spray the wings with an EVO Oil Sprayer to crisp up the breading halfway through cooking. This will also get rid of any white residue from the flour
- After 7 or 8 minutes, use tongs to carefully flip the wings to ensure the breaded wings in the air fryer cook evenly.
- An Instant Read Thermometer is the best way to tell when your wings are fully cooked. You want the thermometer to read 165 degrees F when placed in the thickest part of the biggest wing.

I’m afraid they were all gone before I could even think about taking a picture of them. This recipe is a keeper!
I love hearing that, Bill! So glad you liked them!
Oh, yea these are beautiful. They look amazing and I can’t wait to give this a shot. I have a question before I attempt these, because I’m probably the most Air Fryer Noob on the planet right now lol…
You say to spray them with EVO halfway through the cook. Do you recommend that? Did you do that on these masterpieces in your photos? I’m asking because I notice the oil at the beginning stage, and was just curious how important the spraying part was.
Guide me, wise one!
Hi William, yes I did spray them in oil halfway through cooking. The oil helps take away that not-appealing white the flour gives and also helps give them a nice extra crisp to it!
What about the wing tips. How long to cook them for
Hi Patricia, I have not made the wing tips in the air fryer as of yet. I usually buy them already separated so it just comes with the flats and drummettes or toss the wing tips.
Hey, thanks for the recipe! I tried this and I was pleasantly surprised with the results. I doubled the seasonings (tablespoons instead of teaspoons except for the cayenne) and added onion powder. It came out a little darker than expected, but the flavor was all there. I also sprayed both sides with avocado oil during cooking and coated them in olive oil for a slightly healthier twist. I also had to adjust cook times/temperatures for my specific air fryer. Either way, loved the spice profile. I didn’t need sauce! Thanks again!
my search is over. awesome wings with this recipe. thank you.
So made the wings it all was very easy and fast. Only thing I would change is the flour, a breading with panko or such would have been better. New to air frying so not sure you can use a different breading. Thanks
Fantastic recipe! I used finely ground Italian breadcrumbs in lieu of flour, since I had actually been looking for a recipe with breadcrumbs. I followed the recipe for everything else and it was spot on including the spices and timing. It was spectacular. Definite repeat… I’m so full from two helpings!!! Thank you, Samantha, for sharing this really tasty recipe.
So you glad you loved them, Audrey!
great recipe, loved them, only issue was you misspelt “1 tablespoon garlic powder” in your ingredients section. hope this helps!
So glad you loved it, Bea! Yes, you can definitely change it to a full tablespoon if you are a garlic lover!
Excellent recipe. I used 1/3 cup of flour and the rest (a little less than 1/3 cup) panko crumbs and it gives them a bit more crunch. Used this recipe multiple times now!
So glad you are loving it, Ed!
