How Long to Cook Swordfish Steaks in the Air Fryer

The trick to preparing any kind of fish is making sure it’s cooked all the way through without reaching the point of being overdone. Swordfish has a beautiful texture when cooked properly, which is what we want to achieve!

For two fresh 8-ounce swordfish steaks, I find that 8-10 minutes in the air fryer is the perfect amount of time. Make sure to flip the fish halfway through to ensure it cooks evenly!

If you have an Instant Read Thermometer, this is the best way to tell when the fish is ready to serve. You want the internal temperature to reach 145 degrees F when the thermometer is inserted at the thickest piece of the swordfish steak.

Tips for Making the Best Air Fryer Swordfish

  • When seasoning the swordfish steaks, ensure all sides are well-coated with oil and lemon pepper. This will give you the best taste and texture.
  • Give the air fryer time to preheat. This gives you the best results every time. Just let it preheat while you season the fish!
  • Try to leave a little space between each swordfish steak in the air fryer basket. You want the hot air to be able to circulate properly.
  • Flip the fish halfway through the cooking time so the steaks can cook as evenly as possible. You want them to get a little crispy on all sides!
  • Serve with lemon wedges and parsley to really enhance the natural fresh flavors of the fish!
  • If cooking from frozen, add 4-5 minutes to the cooking time. I would also highly recommend using an Instant Read Thermometer to check for doneness.
