Crispy Bacon Wrapped Hot Dog Recipe
Pairing hot dogs with a slice of bacon to make bacon wrapped hot dogs sounds like an easy combination, but there’s more to it than that and I have the perfect trick to get your new favorite dinner.
The secret? Use a good quality hot dog. It might sound obvious, but most of us are quick to grab what’s on sale and enjoy a hot dog full of toppings.
But, if you replace that with my favorite hot dog brand, you’ll never go back to the old ones.
Serve these hot dogs with some french fries, pasta salad, hamburgers, corn on the cob, or baked beans for a full dinner.

Top these with any of your favorite toppings. I like to switch between Chicago style (yellow mustard, relish, onion, tomatoes, and pickles), using classic ketchup and mustard, hot sauce, and switching up with some BBQ sauce for the summer.
Tips for the Best Tasting Hot Dog Wrapped in bacon
- Use a good quality hot dog for the best flavor — I recommend Nathan’s brand.
- Use raw bacon for best results — the bacon will crisp us nice and stick to the hot dog. Turkey bacon will work, but it may not get as crispy.
- Grill hot dogs on indirect heat — direct heat can cause them to burn as the grease drips down.
- Bake hot dogs in the oven on a wire rack with a baking sheet underneath— this allows the grease to drip down, but not cause a mess.
- Use a toothpick to keep the bacon from unwrapping.
- Slit the hot dogs before cooking them in an oven so they don’t split
