How to Make Barber Food’s Chicken Cordon Bleu in the Air Fryer
A full printable version of this recipe with ingredient measurements is available at the bottom of this post.
STEP ONE: Preheat the air fryer to 380 degrees F.
STEP TWO: Place your chicken cordon bleu in the air fryer in a single layer. My air fryer can cook up to 4 at a time.
STEP THREE: Cook for 18-20 minutes until the internal temperature reaches 165 degrees F.
I recommend using an Instant-Read Thermometer to check the inside of the chicken to make sure everything has heated up fully before pulling it out of the air fryer.
STEP FOUR: Remove from the air fryer and allow to rest for a few minutes before serving.
What is Chicken Cordon Bleu?
If you enjoy bacon-wrapped chicken, you’ll love this dish! Chicken cordon bleu refers to breaded chicken breast stuffed with ham and cheese. They are usually fried to crispy, golden perfection, although some recipes call for baking instead.
I love using the air fryer because you can skip all the hassle of traditional frying while still getting that beautiful crust on the outside! Plus, you can go from frozen stuffed chicken breast to crispy, juicy, melty deliciousness in less than half an hour.

Tips for Making the Best Air Fryer Frozen Chicken Cordon Bleu
- Add the frozen chicken directly to the air fryer basket. The breading already contains oil, so you don’t need any spray.
- If you’re cooking 2 or more at a time, make sure to leave space between each one so the hot air can properly circulate.
- Always give your cordon bleu time to rest before slicing into the meat. This will keep the chicken tender and juicy!
- Use an Instant Read thermometer to ensure the internal temperature reaches 165 degrees F and the chicken is cooked all the way through.
How Long Do You Cook Frozen Chicken Cordon Bleu in the Air Fryer?
Because brands like Barber Food’s chicken cordon bleu are made with raw chicken, it’s very important to make sure the internal temperature reaches 165 degrees. For accuracy, I always recommend using an Instant Read thermometer.
For me, the cooking time usually takes between 18 and 20 minutes. Some cheese may begin to come out, but that’s okay. That means the cheese is perfectly melted!
I suggest using a silicone liner or parchment round to help with clean up.

Question? Do you ever serve a sauce or gravy with the chicken CB?
Thanks
Hi PattiAnn, great question! I usually find that the flavoring of the chicken cordon bleu is enough on its own without gravy!
Thank you. I will try these frozen chx CB.
Would it be possible to air fry 2 potatoes at the same time as 2 chicken cordon blue?
Yes! Just cook the potatoes at 400 for about 25 minutes then lower the temperature and follow these directions to add in the chicken cordon bleu!
I have done this a lot, but the Barber boxes now say not to air fry. This seems counterproductive to me — great food and saves time.
Hi Candy, I believe the concern here is undercooking. Do what you think it right, but I always believe it’s a good idea to have a meat thermometer on hand to check for doneness. I hope this helps.
They are just being paranoid I think, trying to avoid possible lawsuits since air fryer’s vary so much from brand to brand and model to model along with air fryer’s being fairly new yet, this makes it far too difficult to give cooking instructions.
Also, overcooked will splatter the oil (kiev for example) and that COULD be another issue with lots of liquid oil blowing all around from the air fryer fans!!!
